Oppose the Islamic Center & Mosque proposed for Ground Zero
Sign the Petition : 12,221 Letters and Emails Sent So Far
While some in the Islamic community believe building a mosque two blocks from the World Trade Center will promote interfaith tolerance and respect – we disagree. There are better ways for the members of Islam to show respect for those who were murdered by extremists from inside their religion. There are many hurt souls and family members who still feel the pain of this attack on our country. Those who lost spouses, fathers, mothers, children and others do not wish to see a monument of “tolerance” so close to the ashes entombed in the ground of the World Trade Center. There are many places in New York City for this mosque to be built. Why this Imam decided to build it there is questionable and troubling. We have every right to believe based on the background of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf that this is a strategic move to slap the face of Americans as we near the anniversary of the deaths of so many innocent people. There are more than 2300 mosques in the United States - several hundred of them in and around New York City. By contrast, Mecca and Medina are closed cities - allowing neither Christian churches or synagogues - or even non-Muslim. To allow the construction of this mosque in a place where terrorists murdered thousands of Americans, would be an affront to decency and common sense. | |

This has nothing to do with constitutional rights...it's a simple matter of right and wrong! A mosque at Ground Zero is WRONG for NYC and WRONG for America!

This is a real slap in the face of every American and especially those who lost their lives. The mosque should be built elsewhere.

I checked "don't show my name" only because of the White House Thugs. Thank you for this website and all you are doing. The proposed mosque is a shameful attempt to glorify the murders.

While the Ground Zero Center & Mosque has every constitutional right to be at ground zero, it is morally and ethically wrong to have it at that site. Especially with the name of "Cordoba Mosque." Why? Because the word "Cordoba" is known in the Muslim world to signify success over wars with the "infidels (Christians)." Further, it is NOT NEAR ground zero, it is PART of GROUND ZERO. Part of the "attack" plane actually flew into this site on 9/11. For muslims and liberals to think this is going to be a "unifying" structure, they are wrong. Just as wrong as if the Japanese had wanted to build a shinto shrine near the Arizona Memorial. Wrong is wrong, no matter where it may be attempted, no matter by whom attempted, especially by those who purport that we Americans are partly to blame for that outrageous crime which occurred on 9/ll. When Saudi Arabia, from which most of the hijackers came, allows churches and synagogues to be built in their "kingdom," then perhaps there might be some logical reason to start a rational dialogue. Until then, no logical, morally ethical reason exists to build a mosque at this site. I find it disgraceful that we even have to discuss this situation at this site and after 10 years, during which we still look at a 7 story hole in the ground where the twin towers used to be located.

Using America's thoughts on "political correctness" to actively tear us down and destroy what we stand for is appalling and shame on them for trying it. Most Americans can see through the rhetoric and we must stand strong against this mosque.
